Custom Tiles/Sprites
Well I guess there comes a time in every game projects life when you realize that you are better off getting legit custom made tiles and sprites.
I have 2 options 1) Where can i find a good tutorial on making tiles and sprites for my game? I have in mind old NES style graphics. Similar to that of the first Zelda game. Basically NES styled sprites were in 1 tile sized boxes. thats a 16X16 pixel box. Old nintendo games had very little shading on their sprites. 2)Find somone who would take time out of their busy life to make tiles or sprites for me. (VERY UNREALISTIC) so it looks like i am stuck with choice 1. If anyone can point me in the right direction i'd be very much obliged. Last edited by Aourhgad; Jan 10th, 2005 at 8:33 AM. |

Oh, and if you find a good website on sprite design, it may have a tutorial. A couple of tips: draw it out on paper first, several times to figure out what looks best. And I suggest using PNGs for sprites - they're damn useful for alpha-blending.

Here
This is the place where I learned about all the aspects of implementing things into your program to make a game. i.e. the sprites, map editors, etc... It has 2D and flat screen tutorials as well.
