Re: Forum System Upgrade

The yellow "REPLY TO THREAD" button yields the same behaviour I reported above.

Dragon: I'm in the 2% but I am not going to copy your signature.

This seems to happen regardless of the amount of text I enter (I am not the sort to quote a post and say nothing!!).
Testing the reply with quote per grumpy's bug report.

Re: Forum System Upgrade

Found the source of my error.

I'm running firefox, with the NoScript extension installed, and I work on a whitelist-only basis (i.e. execution of Javascript is disabled for any site unless I specifically place it into a whitelist). The upgrade requires client-side execution of Javascript from a site named yahooapi.com. I'll look at it further before deciding whether or not to place it in my whitelist.

Edit: the scripts being used are from an opensource user interface library named YUL used to build "richly interactive applications in web browsers" (consistent with the problems I had by not having that site allowed to execute Javascript).

Re: Forum System Upgrade

Grumpy: The only difference between before and now is that, while vBulletin has been using YUI JavaScript for quite some time, I've decided to call it from the Yahoo! server instead of locally to offset some bandwidth usage and hopefully increase speed. It's the same JS files ... if it's a major concern, I will start using the local copies on PFO's server.

The birthday thing is weird because there is nothing about it that I have hacked - I'll look into the possibility of it being a vBulletin bug.

Don't worry about it, it's not a problem. I ran into the problem only because I prefer to tie things down, and check things before easing settings. Now that I know, I'm happy.
