Site Down

Hi,

I apologize for tonight's downtime ... our server was hacked and the hackers got root ... It wasn't pretty

Cheers,

Dani

Re: Site Down

Is there anything we need to be worried about if we visited during the attack?

Re: Site Down

I doubt it, other than getting a skull & bones then getting redirected to another site.

Re: Site Down

Nope, they did not access the database or any Apache logs, so none of your personal information was compromised.

They did try to place a 'shell' on the system to access it later, but apparently they had some syntax errors in their code. Then OS Reloaded the box to ensure they didn't have anything else running.

They only got access to one of the web servers, and were apparently just doing malicious tasks, like deleting content etc.

Heh yeah, I thought exactly the same thing, word for word even. Well, minus the 'ROFL', it was more a mental chuckle.

I, on the other hand, was literally rolling on the floor laughing. I find it hilarious that they would hack a forum with a lot of programming topics, and have bad code. Though they probably didn't make it themselves anyway. Seems kind of lame to crack into a system and just start deleting stuff too.
