Web Based Game Project, Anyone Interested?

I've been working on getting a web based game going... similar to www.hobowars.com except with more of a "Hacker" twist.

Basically when a user registers, they can earn money, upgrade the hacking and security stats on their computer... attempt to hack other users (only once per user and only 20 times until website does cron run to reset stats every 4 hours, keeping people from raping the system)....

Members that have been hacked after a certain amount of times will have to "repair" their "computer" at the "repair shop"...

And I'm working on adding loads more features....

anyone think this will be able to pick up a member base... or does it sound like it needs more features... does it sound interesting to anyone???

(and yes, I already know it lacks realism when it comes to actual hacking, but later I intend to add things like port-scanning another user, mapping ports to services and finding exploits .... yadda yadda. )

It sounds fun if you're the hacker, but what about the hackee? can they detect a hacking attempt? what kind of defenses can he deploy? Also having levels in multiplayer games can help keep players around for longer.

Ok, if you're the hackee, you'll know when you've been hacked. as of right now you can see who the last user that hacked you was... and you can only be hacked by each member once. each time you're hacked though, you lose money and points... (you can store money however so its not taken)....

at a later time, members may be taken "offline" after a few hacks, so they can't be obliterated while they aren't logged in... thus is what that "repair" feature is...

as for defenses, the members can visit the "Upgrades Shop" and buy things like a firewall upgrade that increases their "security" stat which is used against the hackers "hacking" stat in an algorithm in some php code I wrote....

as far as levels goes... There isn't really any level to this, asside from I could offer Level'ing Up... and somehow that benefits the users...

What else do you (or anyone) think should be added?

I've got the site online if you wanted to take a look at it... Noones really active, but it has a domain, and it works (though i'm adding more functions and trying to get it ready to roll)

This sounds like a fun idea, leveling allows for usefulness. I would like to help out in this project, it might take me a while to get past a few other projects i have going on. Best idea is to use php and also maybe some Javascript(adds the bazzaaness). I can also host this if you need a host.

Re: Web Based Game Project, Anyone Interested?

I've got it on a web host right now with very good resources, and I have a domain attached as well... I've just been plugging away at the site without telling many people the URL... as of right now after I add quite a few more features, I think I need a way to make it more user friendly... theres alot of text right now, and the average guest wouldn't know where to go. Probably a guide, and like a web2.0 big link pointing them in the right direction would help.

You're interested in helping though, and I could use another member on the administration helping out... I'll message you the URL of the site... and if you can't help out for a while, thats fine... i'll keep working on it by myself for now and if I feel enough changes have been made I'll slowly start promoting it.
