![]() PFO definitely lost it's identity... and personality. I quite dig the new forum features and all... but losing some of the regulars, and the change in scenery, has made it radically different. Kind of undefined. It's become a rather impersonal thing for me to post here. Maybe doing some things to promote the site's history might help. I don't know. This could very-quite-definitely possibly be a phenomenally horrible thought, but a hall-of-fame for the best all-time PFO threads came to mind. Sorry I can't be more helpful I kind miss the old dancing banana icon, too... btw. .... what the hell... ![]()

I like this idea. I'll see if I can come up with some ideas.

Re: Am I Doing a Good Job?
i picked the last one becuase it is the only answer that relects to old state of the forum.
my main gripe is the read posts not being updates. People ask alot(at least i consider it to be alot) of tech support questions here not directly related to programming. This is a programming forum not a PC repait forum. there are other forums that better suit tech support, like http://computerforum.com/ I ask my java question else where because I can get quicker bettter help there. I try to asnewer some of the java questions here.

Re: Am I Doing a Good Job?
I picked the second option, mainly because I feel as though everything has room for improvement despite how "great" it may seem.
I used to post a great deal on the forums. I would also consider myself one of the ol' regulars. I noticed a significant decline (at least from an original members standpoint) after the influx of DevShed users. I think the decline was gradual and inevitable, not necessarily a reflection of anything you've done to the community. With the influx of DaniWeb members, I think a similar decline is taking place. Its like comparing a small close-knit town to a city with millions of people. The community feel is gone I guess. The regulars have left, for the most part. It doesn't feel like "home" to me anymore (maybe due to the scheme/layout). I contribute alot of that "feeling" to my recent lack of interest and time, which I hope to resolve soon. Hopefully, I can regain interests and start posting again... or I may just gradually "go off the grid" like the regulars before me. For the record... the forums were peaking prior to DaWei's presence and will surely peak down the road. I do not believe one particular member, including myself, departing would hurt much the overall forum activity. For an analogy, people move out of town often and the town doesn't suffer because of it and even in some instances is better for it. Most people chime into a forum to get a question answered and to see how the "feel" of the community is, and if they are immediately and repeatedly ridiculed over forum rules or the fact that English is not their native language and they cannot form their sentences with correct grammar that are disregarded as unimportant. That makes one feel discouraged from posting in the future, much less becoming a valuable member of the community. On the other hand, the "noobs" posting homework questions, or saying do this and email me... does become quite frustrating. Give it more time, I'm sure things will come around and hopefully in the process, the community feel will become more evident.

Re: Am I Doing a Good Job?
o_o I don't post on here for a few months and this is what I see? Very surprising.
What happened to big_k? And DaWei, for that matter.

Re: Am I Doing a Good Job?
Also no offense but imo this new layout feels somewhat corporate and soulless. I liked the old blue one.

I'm happy, it's like all programs, there is always room for improvement.
