Re: The Acid2 Test

Jimbo simply stated a fact, Jessehk. Don't let your enthusiasm for Microsoft-bashing blind you to the fact that other suppliers do exactly what they criticise Microsoft for -- or would, if they could get away with it.

Microsoft has, quite openly, sought to influence standards. In some cases, their influence has been highly beneficial in terms of resulting in a better, more open, standard. In some cases, their influence has been problematical, as they have gone down a different path from some standards committees. At other times, they have put proprietary solutions forward as the basis for a standard .... which, if you think about it, is exactly what Sun did with Java in a less formal manner. The wider benefits of such approaches are mixed, as it depends on how much other organisations/suppliers/developers/etc are willing to adopt such things as standard.

I was joking. I'm actually pretty neutral towards Microsoft. In my original post, there was a "" that Jimbo didn't post in his quote.
