Smile The Acid2 Test

Anyone else seen this? I found this hilarious. Quite a punch in the face for Internet Explorer.

It's one thing to talk about all the glitches, but to visibly see them all on the same page: magical.

http://www.webstandards.org/files/acid2/test.html

But it might be important to note... There's gossip that an internal build of IE8 passes the test, and is planned to meet web standards 100 percent. I guess they are finally trying to earn back their declining market share.

Enjoy.

I use Opera and it passes the test. I find it funny that Opera beat out Fire Fox for passing considering how highly praised FF is. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acid2_t...ssful_browsers

Evidence that users don't care about standards compliance, they just want a full-featured product that's nice to use and doesn't have a learning curve.

Re: The Acid2 Test

Opera's useablity surpases Fire Fox, it works out of the box with out having to install 5+ 3rd party extentions. I find alot more intuitive. IE6 lacks the features of Opera and FF. IE7 is better but not that great.

Even if they don't care either way, I think most don't know about standards compliance. If I asked my friends why browsers like IE7 are put to shame for not complying with standards... I bet only a couple would know what I'm talking about.

in my opinion, microsoft in general is always trying to push their propitiatory formats on the public - i consider this an excessive way to control the IT industry.

They're certainly not alone in adding proprietary features to their products, or keeping their formats locked down...
