Microsoft VC++ 2005 Express and C# Express are both free and run under Vista. I get a warning when they start up but you can just ignore it.

The compiler is inside .NET which is free.

If you mean IDE, I use (and like) Sharpdevelop, but have no idea if it would run on Vista...

Re: Any free C++, C# compiler?

You can also use DevC++ for C++ which has Windows port of gcc (MingW) and you can use Mono on Windows for C# or as other members above said microsoft offers free compiler for C# and C++ or you can grab visual studio express for C# and C++ which are completely free.

And to support Arla's suggestion, #Develop works great on Vista

Free IDE: i recommand you using CodeBlocks.it's cross platform.and supports OpenGL wxWidget and D Programming Language project and so on .
NetBeans & Eclipse can do it.but write those is Java.so speed slowly and required big memory.

Re: Any free C++, C# compiler?

Regarding above two posts: Try to use sentences rather than sentence fragments, and put a space or two between them. I'm not a stickler for precise grammar and spelling, but when you write as you did, it's very hard to understand what you mean. To put it another way:

speakers nonnative english can do it.but write those is english.so read slowly and required big comprehension.

Re: Any free C++, C# compiler?

I recommand using Visual C# 2008 express, the latest version wth the latest .NET frame library. only get SharpDevelop if and only if you plan on using Mono.

Don't use DevC++ it is complete and utter garbage and has been abandon for many years. Use CodeBlocks only if you want cross platform while that IDE is still completely buggy.

Visual C++ 2008 Express Edition is perfect. The intellisense still sucks but you can get by with it later on fine if your not all that crazy about it. But other than that its real good.
