Visual Studio 2008 Release!

Visual Studio 2008, code-named Orcas, is the successor to Visual Studio 2005, released to MSDN subscribers on 19 November 2007. I was wondering if anyone is using it and their thoughts. Thanks.

It looks great and I cant wait to buy it or maybe get lucky and have MS send me a full pro copy like they did with 2005.

Re: Visual Studio 2008 Release!

I've had the express beta for some time now. It isn't (to me, as I use it) significantly different from 2005.

I find the support for WPF applications is better. Of course that was when it didn't crash everytime i made a few changes to my xaml markup. Obviously, I expect those bugs to be fixed with the official release.

Now...if only it didn't take so long to install that .NET Framework 3.5

There have been some changes since the beta, but like you say, it depends on how you use it. A lot of the new features seem to be either WPF or web development related (or at least that's what I see in my isolated world), with LINQ being one of the main attractions of the 3.5 framework.

Tell me about it, I've installed the damn thing so many times, and it's like a 1 hour damn-I-shoulda-gone-for-coffee just for the framework.
