Re: What is the best designed website you have seen?

If you plan to continue doing any sort of design work for other people, get used to them having very different ideas of what looks good. I am not saying your design isn't as good as you say, but opinions vary widely.

There are a number of nice designs at http://www.freecsstemplates.org/ . I like to browse them to get some ideas for layouts.
There are some nice clean css templates provided at http://andreasviklund.com/templates/ as well.

That could refer to just about anything in this thread. Perhaps you could clarify what "the first one" refers to.

Despite the widely varying opinions about what constitutes "good looking", the things that count for sites that rely on commercial success are reachability, navigability, content, and readability. "Kewl", what ever that means, doesn't always (maybe not even often) result in the cash register going "ding".

Re: What is the best designed website you have seen?

I have a super-old screenshot of it. Try to image it with more content and images. This is the only screenshot I have of it though. All the newer development stuff was lost when the new staff (bunch of high school jocks thinking they were going to get off easy by taking the class) deleted the entire /public_html folder in their attempt at trying to make alterations to the site. Needless to say, their grade suffered.

^That's a pretty nice site. Did the link get underlined or 'highlighted' when the cursor went over them?

Did you ever pic a better 'header'? Like with a logo, or a pic of the school?

Yeah, a friend of mine is amazing with Photoshop and was able to get a really nice header. The links had mouse-overs and there were a lot more images as well as embedded flash videos.

You can use the Wayback Machine to find it. I'd be interested to see a well-designed website for a car manufacturer.
