does anyone know how to interface a card reader (a magnetic card reader for example) to a vb application? for example, it will be used as an ID system, you just swipe your card and data is passed to the vb application...

any site i should go to? i tried to search but i didnt find any...

thanks!

First you have to consider a few things. The Type of Magnetic Card system, What kind of port your using (com1 ect) and then you have to determine the signals to send to the card which you would have to ask ur manufacture. if you cannot support the information they give you post it here and i will gladly help you with this. Ive tested a magnetic Card Swipe program made in C++ that i could rpobly convert to vb as a example but the problem with that is the manufactures for the card swiping hardware probly wouldnt match. Or are you plannign to make ur own magnetic Card swipe? Post more details.
