Maybe your computer is slow.

Re: Cannot Get VB Express 2005

This used to happen for me. Try ending a few processes (Cntrl + Alt + Delete --> Processes --> [[Click on Something]] --> End Process). You don't really need instant messengers going, and stuff like that.

You don't really need explorer either - if my computer's going a bit slow I tend to end that. To restart it when you've finished programming go on Applications --> New Task... and then type "explorer.exe" without the quotation marks. I've called my adapted version explorer3.exe so if you've done likewise you'll need to replace "explorer.exe" with whatever you've renamed it to.

Why would you want 2005 instead of 2008? And in the future, please don't use existing threads for new problems

Re: Cannot Get VB Express 2005

Well, the reason I want 2005 is so I don't have to convert programs I've already written. Of course, I asked Microsoft support where I could download 2005 express, and I was pointed to the 2008 download site. I wish people would listen to what is being asked.

Have you looked into the multi-targeting feature added to VS 2008?

Re: Cannot Get VB Express 2005

I haven't really done much with 2008, other than convert some programs from 2005 into 2008. Multi-targeting sounds like some cross-platform type deal.

Re: Cannot Get VB Express 2005

It's meant to allow users to target different versions of the .NET framework. In this case, the options are 2.0, 3.0, and 3.5 (development support for 1.x was dropped when VS 2005 came out). Remember, the idea behind the .NET runtime is to make the software platform-agnostic with the only requirement being the runtime itself.
