Question date() fuction

hi to all

my problem is with the date function in PHP.
when ever take the output of date() in any format . it gives me the time which is 5:30 hrs behind the machine time(server time).
i am unable to find the bug any hints would really help me out here

You might wonder about UTC time. That's about as well as I can do unless I reach into my nether regions and pull out the code you didn't provide.
