The reason that you can't find an up-to-date book is because COBOL is not up-to-date. You might make a very good living maintaining legacy COBOL. It's quite fine to discover that niche and burrow there. You will not be in the mainstream. There are some benefits to that. You will not have to endure forty-zazillion blogs written by neophytes, acolytes, and fake high-priests.

Carry your check to the bank, grinning all the way, but don't expect a lot of responses on a generic programming forum.
