Boozrs.com RoR website
This is my first big rails project that I did on my own. I really enjoyed working on this, rails is a great framework to build websites with, and ruby is an awesome language. Check it out at http://boozrs.com , tell me what you think, any suggestions on how I can make the site better?

One thing I noticed right off is that if you do much more blue on blue, you'll give folks migraines that resemble hangovers.

WOW! Well done mate. For a first time that's not half bad!
Do think a bit about the colours a bit in future... maybe use a pre-designed template the first few times and once you've got the hang of what colours work e.t.c. maybe start striking out on your own like that. But well done and keep up the good work! Who knows - I might even join... |

I must say, if it really is your first project with Ruby, I'd say it looks like you did a pretty good job. A couple things. Take a look at it in FF, my resolution is 1280X1024 and it shows a horizontal scroll bar. I don't mind the blue, but I would definetly change the form boxes background colours. It's too much for me. I'd say you should also change your font colours for links, and visited links rather than keeping them at default colours. Lastly, I would change a bit of your content. Don't do that "well what do you think it's about" crap. I'd also change your advertising bit unless you truly are getting a huge # of hits per day. You need to advertise your site before you try payed adverting other sites on your own. I only say one grammar error, but you should do a spelling and grammar check on your pages too. Anyways, good luck, it lookin' good.

As for the colors, yeah too much blue, should I try to add some other colors in there? And I was thinking of making the links rollover instead of the default colors, just haven't gotten around to it. And for that advertising thing, I was planning on doing something where bar and club owners could make their bar or club to be featured for a small fee (like $5 a month), but I don't think I am going to implement that just yet (especially since I just launched it, and no one is on it yet). Should I get google ads, are they pretty good for getting some sort of income? Thanks, for looking. |

Just a idea, but do you have a limit on the users age? Cause Im 18, and I was able to create a user. Most drinking sites require you be 21.

Great job man! I personally think the layout looks good and I love the blue text fields! How long have you been doing Ruby and working with Rails? How long did it take you to do that site?

Google ads aren't the best...
Google it. If your getting 500+ hits a day there's somebody who'll pay $50+ a day for one ad! Cya. |

I've been programming with Ruby for a little less than a year, and rails for about 4 months. Where would be the best place to go to get people to buy ad space (I'm obviously going to hold out for a little bit until I get more members and more content, but for future reference). |
