only a dick would post negative (or possibly eggbert, but in a helpful way). anyway i love this forum and i don't care how old you are (when it comes to programming mjordan is one of the best ones here and he's only 13) but when it comes to other issues don't post unless you're old enough to complain. like with taxes or the IRAQ situation. i.e. --if you pay (full-time) taxes then complain. if you actually "might get sent to die in iraq because you're in the army" then complain. otherwise it's just retarded. (FYI---bush is a faggot and i hate him). mjordan and ooble rule.

oh yeah...
i have asked gay questions here before (usually while drunk). i have always gotten good answers. this forum is really like a bunch of guys just being geeky together. i love it. especially when the BIG guys (big K105, kurifu, infinite recursion, eggbert) answer your questions. BTW where the hell is eggbert? i'm drunk...la la la... too drunk to continue.

I put no because we're all newbie's at some things... Like me: I'm a compleat noob when it comes to C/C++ and C# but than when it comes around to Python than I know my way around preatty well... It all comes down to what you think a noob really is.

Yea, this site can have the feel of a bunch of guys just goofin around with geeky stuff. I know a couple sites like that. It can be fun, but sometimes I need to pull myself away from sites like that to get productive.

This is the only site that I know of where the member base is actually extreemly nice. Other froums I've been to in the past, they're all assholes, but this community was very well made.

Most larger communities are really nice, with the exception of a few arses - but then, you get them everywhere. Slyck.com, for example, has a great community, if you pull out the few that piss everyone off.

I think its for both myself, n00bs can come and ask questions and the actual programs are there to help the n00bs or discuss code with others that might have new ideas.
I myself am a n00b to coding, right now im learning VB.Net and I am familiar with HTML.. lol, yea yea, soo much. Over the summer I plan on learning PHP and C#, also MySQL but that does really could I guess. I am taking IT at NSIT in Halifax, Nova Scotia right now, and plan to go onto Database for my concentration. This will still give me enough background to get an entry level job as a Programmer, Network Admin, Web Developer, or as a Junior Admin for Database. I know I dont use this much other than a social way to commune with other "G33ks" but when I need help, this would be one of the places I come to get it. ![]()

you'll build a larger community by catering to people with less exprience, I mean, i could post some questions I have about my projects, but chances that more than 5 people here could answer them are quite slim. What I've noticed is that there's 4 types of questions.
1) Syntax questions, people who don't try hard enough or just don't have enough experience to pin-point their problems right away. Debugging is a skill that takes time to develop. 2) Homework questions, people who don't want to do their homework and post here hoping that someone will help them. I don't mind pointing people in the right direction, but i'm not going to do their work for them 3) Beginner questions, people who havn't programmed a lot or are trying to get into it, and have questions on how to start and how to do things. I like helping people who are trying to start to et into the business, but I sometimes wish they used the search function. 4) Other questions, questions from anybody who just have something their stuck on, sometimes it can be a simple syntax/semantic problem, or a design desicion. These are usually answered quickly, cuz a second set of eyes can usually shed new light on the situation. Then of course there's the lounge, where we chat to keep our social life up. I love this forum, I like helping people, and I learn more from helping others than from doing things myself. My php and other scripting skills have been greatly improved. See y'all around! Dizz |
