Fishbones

I am new to programming slightly, and just jumped back in. I know how to make simple programs ("Your character: #", addition, math, basics, etc.) and would like to know, where should I head next? I want to nail the language, but don't want to try anything too simple or anything too complicated. You know? This is my first language, but what I already know is easy for me, and I am pretty bright and think logically. Just need a push down the hill into programming, you know?

If you want to continue in C, you could start by gradually increasing the complexity of your programs... include things like file io, databases, networking, devices, cryptography, etc. If you want to move into the object oriented programming world, pick up some C++.

C is a great language to start with and is what I started with but after going to school and learning C++ I was able to pick up most languages from text after that. I would say going to a class room structure and learning some OOP in C++ then moving to some of them fancy dot net programs lol. Seems to be were the money is heading lol. Hope I helped
