I recieve several hundred email's a day, so I had to get off of Gmail's actual web interface, since the organization kind of got hectic.
I'm now a user of mutt for my mail. Of course, mutt isn't the only part of the equation; I use getmail for mail retrieval, maildrop for mail filtering, and msmtp for sending mail. The benefit of using gmail for this is that gmail acts not only as my spam filter, but also as my outgoing SMTP server. |

Gmail for personal, Thunderbird for work. With gmails refusal to have folders there is no way I could organize all my filters and work emails with it.
