Oddly enough, any successful relationship with the people around you is an exercise in social engineering.

Very good point DaWei, not even i have ever thought of it in that way.
the really odd thing, is that as a general stereo type those who are branded (or in my case proud to be) nerds / geeks (of any particular genre, cracker/hacker/gamer/programmer the list is very long) are generally considered not to have great social skills. Which really couldn't be farther from the truth. |

At another forum I frequent there has recently been one person trying to hack the site(dumb brute force programs he has downloaded) and doing alot of idiotic stuff such has having a group of friends help him spam the site with pointless threads just to clogg everything up.
Then one day he started bragging how he was getting a bunch of support from other kids that felt disrespected by the admins of the site. So I pretended to be one of the kids supporting him, befriending him on AIM and such. Then I offered him a "crack" to a game I found out he was thinking of buying. The "crack" I made basically just placed another program 100 or so times all over the machine with different names and registered each instance to startup. Then started launching each instance of the other program. The other program basically just replicated itself once and then entered into an infinite loop where it opened internet explorer to Meatspin. So it basically just bombarded the user with Meatspin until the computer finally slowed down enough and crashed. Not really malicious, but it was funny. |
