What version do you have, the express edition, or the full one?

I dont ermber c++ having a String class(with uppercase S) this is only .NET. If you want to use the c++ string class u have to #include <string> or <cstring>, and u have the "string". Also .NET treats the arrays as classes and u cannot use the methods the arrays have in managed c++ in ansi/iso c++.

I think this is your problem, no nedd to download extra software. Visual studio is great.

<cstring> has nothing to do with the C++ string class. It is the C++ version of <string.h>, which has to do with C-style strings (arrays of char).

I have the Express version of Visual Studio 2005, which may be the reason of the limited number of options available.

I found an installation program, InstallAware, which installs .NET 2.0 if the user doesn't have it already, along with the program. It is working well now!
I hope InstallAware demo is free to use for non-commercial purposes...

Thank you all for your help!
