Thinking about moving to USA to work in software - advice please!

Hi,

I was thinking about emirgating to work in the USA as a software engineer and would appreciate some advice as to the pros and cons of it.

Presently, I work verifying safety critical software for the aerospace industry. I have 4 years experience of this and just over two years design experience. Admittedly most of my experience is using in house languages and tools.

I would like to move into something more mainstrem and as i've have a few problems where I live presently due to a lack of potential employers I am now thinking about moving away - with the USA and UK my top choices.

Can someone please give me advice as to the salary expections, workload and general working conditons that a software engineer can expect in the USA?

Any other comments also greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

FM.

Are you a software engineer? What are your qualifications for that?

Your salary really depends on where in the US you decide to work. The bigger the city, the higher the salary. Go to salary.com and type in "Software Engineer" and pick a zip code where you may have interest in living.
