My dad would like to say a few words from experience...
"The military will give you 'focus' in your life, and maybe motivation to achieve more than you thought possible. But, as for the other aspects of the experience, let's just say, the 'join the military because' commercials are a complete bunch of false hype ads. For example, I was promised money for a college degree if I joined the military, but during boot camp, the military made us sign away our rights to the money for college. Etc. You are doing the smart thing; ask around, and then ask around some more. If you do decide to join, then I would sign up only for officer candidate school, in a computer related MOS, with ALL the paperwork completed and approved BEFORE I signed the bottom line and left for processing.
