Problems installing php on windows
I'm new to php and am trying to install it on windows xp. I've unzipped files to c:\php\, i've added php to windows path.
The next step as per installation instructions is to copy the php.ini-recommended file to the php.ini I can locate the php.ini-recommended file but where is the php.ini file? The only other file in the unzipped installation with any mention of ini is the php.ini-dist file Please any help would be great Thanks |

Make a copy of php.ini-recommended and rename it to php.ini.

thanks, so simple . I'm not really that stupid but the installation guide should have implied this as it is targetted towards the novice

Don't know whether you knew or not, but I believe there is a executable installation that does most of the stuff for you. I've never bothered to set it up manually. Just rather than getting the zip, download the exe setup file instead (from php.net). Might be easier for you if you are still having problems.

I used phpdev (http://www.firepages.com.au/). Its really easy to set up and it comes with php, mysql and apache in one package. It sets up under "localhost" and it stores all webfiles in a www folder.
