Read the manuals for installation. You will have to install the apache webserver before you can parse PHP on your computer. Once that's installed, you will have to set up mod_php for it. The manuals are well documented for installation.

that is for the http server

there is version 2.0 or 1.3 i personally use 1.3 as it is the more stable version but i think 2.0 is really getting stable now too

I wouldn't, at least not at first. Tinker around with the tutorials... see if you can benefit from the language. Only get a book as a reference when you need more specific info. At least, that's what I do... having said that, I own a lot of programming books and other related topics. It never hurts to have them on hand. Although, the PHP.net documentation is fairly good, check into it too.

i downloaded the httpd-2.0.50 .zip file, extracted it, and i dont know what to do!

i feel like an uber nub <_<
