The site is done in asp.net so the php isnt really an opition. What I'm going to do is remove that menu system and design the site's navigation to not use javascript and well, be a lot simpler.

You can do nice rollovers with CSS, though IE is more of a bitch about it.

Hey Ghost, when I read the subject, I thought, you were trying to make a website on "Wine" -> Windows Emulator.

Anyways, all the best and ensure, that you follow standards.

The border around the inside where it's kind of a darker grey should be a wine-red. And the banner could use some more color as well.

if you really want to be geeky anal about it you could use a server side script to see what web browser the user has and load different layout scripts.

If you want to be pragmatic about it, you'd write your layout to work on all the various browsers; DaWei was likely referring to the shabby manner in which IE supports CSS. I personally think that a layout tailored to a specific browser (and even worse, version) is just a sign of poor design or developer ignorance.

I agree with everyone else about the colors as well. Once I realized it was on the beverage rather than the software, I was expecting a border the color of a light wine, like a white zinfandel (well, a similar shade of pink at least), and then a white background and wasn't sure what the text color might be.. Of course, that's just the image I built up in my head till I actually loaded the page.

Content-wise, I didn't look around very much, but I'm not so sure that the comic would necessarily be appropriate. As much as webcomics are enjoyable, I don't know how much they appeal to the kind of folk to typically drink wine (or know anything about it).

Just my $.02, take it for what it's worth

Bad approach. One writes for compliant browsers and hacks for the others. Strictly personal opinion, of course.
