i recommend www.w3schools.com as it covers everything that has to do with web programming. Including, php, javascript, xhtml, and much more.

S'true. Maybe I should actually write something about the differences and why I believe one is better than the other - then I'll have an excuse to complain loudly when someone uses HTML.

That's slightly different: C is still used in a lot of projects, especially ones that work closely with hardware. Every current major operating system kernel is written in C. HTML is now definitely a thing of the past - a relic. Yes, I agree that people should learn it, but after they've learnt XHTML.
