I have norton running here and its fine. Does use up a lot of system recources though. On the rare occasion I detect a virus it can delete it with no problems. If I suspect a suspicous file then I upload it to http://www.virustotal.com where the files are scanned with about 24 different anti virus products.

I don't think the question is whether or not Norton is effective, but whether or not it is his best option, and, additionally, what people think of PC-cillin. At least, that's my take on the post. I always found Norton to be effective. I just find it, now, to be less than maximally effective. Well, effectively effective, so to speak.
