Have you priced it out wholesale yet? And are you gonna take pre-orders or do you have a pile of dough stashed under the mattress to make your first order(s)?

When I bought the CPU for my desktop (admittedly about 2 years ago), it was just under $300 IIRC, and that was the wholesaler price. Getting the parts won't necessarily be cheap, even if it is in bulk.

This is like the 3rd month old dead thread you bump, do you plan on continuing this, because these discussions are rather old and you just post un-useful information in them.

Well, I'm going to say go with at the very least a 15 inch LCD screen. That should be good for most general purpose gaming. And I guess my 500 dollar price range is about off, but I think the point remains that this will be cheaper than a laptop.
And you're going to sell these? Just curius, but how are you going to sell them? Are you going to open up a website or will you sell these to friends and the like?

EDIT: Whoops, dead

can you link me to the sites where you were getting those insane deals at? O.o

Oh, and suggestion: Perhaps you could attach a keyboard and touchpad mouse to the top, then it would be a thick laptop.

I'm also going to be working on a project involving a portable computer... Perhaps we could go in on a site together? Of course, I'm still working everything out on paper at this point, but maybe we could talk on gtalk or something.

Well the core is low heat and low power but the ram and hard drive in that case will require a big cooling solution. A small case could cause serious heat problems.
