It's not fuzzy at all. The problem with people such as Bauman is that they target people who stand more to lose in lawyers fees than they would lose from copyright infringement. It's a problem with the system, but one unlikely to be fixed anytime soon.

I thought the post said it was something (a project) you could DO, not something you could write.
It is a project I can do, but every website needs content right? In this case, it would happen to be something I'm writing, unfortunatly, I would have to have researched material. I see you point abotu the whole patent issue, but the fact is, I'm not stealing anyones information or ideas. In this case, there arn't really any ideas. Only facts.

I see people are talking about fair use. I've been in a court room more than once and can tell you that the law isn't a gray area. It's the interpretation that's the problem. Everyone who is accused has a right to a fair trial and the goal of each sided is to win a verdict in their favor. If your not going sell your idea, chances are no one is going to care as long as you give credit where it's due. If you're worried about it, it doesn't hurt to ask whoever's work your going to use. Just ask, and chances are they'll alow it. Who knows, they'll proably pretty flattered that you want to use it. (as long as your not making them look bad.)

Nopers. I'm not trying to make anyone look bad, I'm not trying to make tons of money. I'm just trying to create somethign that I can, in a way, call my own. I have lots of web design skills, but no freaking website. That's what I want. Just a place I can say, hey, this is my website. (not a blog, not about me). Just a website that I run and manage.

I'm just going to throw a hypothetical out there...

Someone made a bunch of images for a 2D online game. A 15 year old kid with a copy of the same server uses those images for his game.

What would the outcome be do you think? I mean financially as well as jail time, etc. If you couldn't guess this is not a hypothetical and I have a vested interest in the outcome. *laughs hysterically*
