debit examples - visa style cards
credit examples - mastercard style cards

oh and you can buy things in shops with debit cards the ones for ATM's are called ATM cards and noone really bothers with them

i would pay the £13 or so that it would cost me but i don't have a job so its not worth it to me yet, however i always look at the ads too see if there is something i like there
DaWei pretty well covered what debits and credits are. I just wanted to clarify a few things you may not fully understand.
  • You don't, normally, get overdrawn with a debit card. When you enter your pin it is verified against your available balance. The only time you should actually get overdrawn is when using, for example, a Visa check card, which is a debit card that can be used like a credit card, too, and the charge won't hit your account for a few days.
  • Visa and Mastercard are both types of credit cards
  • You can make purchases in shops with debit cards as long as the card reader has a keypad to input a pin number, I believe. I'm not quite positive on that one, as it's been awhile since I've had just a debit card.

At my bank if you have good credit, you can get your bank acount set up so that you can overdraw with your atm/debet card.

Is this still an option, K? If so did the link get left out of the new design?

EDIT: I found it, K. It's in your Control Panel under paid subscriptions on the left hand side down toward the bottom, if anyone else is interested.

We're programmers. Why would you spend 30 dollars a year for a forum when we could make it a community project and whip up our own? Oh, and 25$ a year seems a bit much considering it's only 130$ a year in total payment (give or take a few bucks in taxes and whatnot). So by that logic you would only need 5-6 people buying a years subscription to completely found the site. Where does the rest of the money go?
I think you would pull in more money if you made it 5, ten, maybe 15 dollars. Then more people would want to buy it, and you would get more. Remember, a lot of the people here are teenagers (Though there are a lot of adults here, too) and most teenagers' parents are not going to like the idea of throwing 25$ at some stranger to host a forum (even if it's the teen's money, they will still not let them). But a lot more parents would be willing to put 5-10 dollars out there. But once you start getting into high teens and twenties, they start to get wary.

Nobody's requiring payment, nor are they begging for it. It's strictly a voluntary thing. And there is and option for a monthly sponsorship at $5.00. $25.00 a year is not much money at all.

the cost of running this site has gone up since I first made this thread. When I first started this site we were on a shared host now this site is ran on a dedicated server. I still am not begging for money and I don't want people giving money unless they really feel they want to. The extra money goes into advertising costs for the site the more money I have the more money I can put into advertising each and every month. but again I don't want money from people who don't feel it is what they really want to do.

Please. There's a reason vBulletin costs money: it takes a long time to produce a product like it. Your other points may or may not be valid, depending on your perspective, but saying that he shouldn't pay for forum software is just ridiculous.
