selecting mirror

I'm relying on $LANG to tell me the user's location for mirror selection. For Europe I have:
en | fr | de | it | hr | sv | fi | no | 'nl' | el

For Asia:
zh | jp | ko

Any suggestions for additions?

(US is en_US not en)

If you load up your Internet browser and go into the options screen, and hit the Edit Languages button or something, you'll see a big, big list of them.

Off the top of my head, I suggest adding "es" (for Spain), but Ooble's already given the definitive answer here. Alternatively, you might get some luck googling for country codes.

you should rely on the narion part of the locale, i.e.
% echo $LANG | sed 's/.._\(..\).*/\1/'

note: I am in Germany and use en_GB.UTF-8 and have used en_US.ISO-8859-1 in the past. Meaning: you cannot rely 100% on the locale. I am sure many people outside the GB or US use those locales.

Pinging usually gets the job done, too.
