We're programmers. Why would you spend 30 dollars a year for a forum when we could make it a community project and whip up our own? Oh, and 25$ a year seems a bit much considering it's only 130$ a year in total payment (give or take a few bucks in taxes and whatnot). So by that logic you would only need 5-6 people buying a years subscription to completely found the site. Where does the rest of the money go?
I think you would pull in more money if you made it 5, ten, maybe 15 dollars. Then more people would want to buy it, and you would get more. Remember, a lot of the people here are teenagers (Though there are a lot of adults here, too) and most teenagers' parents are not going to like the idea of throwing 25$ at some stranger to host a forum (even if it's the teen's money, they will still not let them). But a lot more parents would be willing to put 5-10 dollars out there. But once you start getting into high teens and twenties, they start to get wary.
