Grr. My laptop is really bad at saving power.

Hello everone!

I bought a new laptop awhile ago with the following specs:

Intel Celeron-M Processor 370 1.5GHz
80GB Hard Drive
DVD Dual Layer Drive
15.4" XGA Widescreen TFT Screen
Intel 910GML - up to 128 MB of shared memory
Integrated wireless 802.11g
1GB RAM
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Pre Loaded.

I like it alot except for one thing, if you turn all options to the lowest in "Acer ePowerManagement" it can only be unplugged for 1,3 hour (max).

So my question to you is: Can a new battery solve this? Or is there any other program that can optimate it capabilities to save power? Maybe someone else had this problem and solved it?

Thanks in advance.

If you use the battery alot, such as dishcarge and rechaged once a day then its probably buggered. Batteries only last about 500 cycles. After that you need to get a new one which will set you back a few pennies.

What programs are you running? If you playing video games while just running off the battery it's not gonna last very long. Also, how old is it, after a couple years the battery gets worse and worse.

Thanks for the replies folks. I just have to live with the fact: The more you pay, the better "stuff" you'll get.

You can set up a new hardware profile and use that when you are out and about. I have done it with mine and its worked well.

>System properties
>Hardware tab
>Hardware profile
>copy profile
>rename it
>go to device manager and disable the hardware you do not require while you are on the move.

When you boot up you will get the option of which hardware profile to use.

One other very important factor is the screen brightness.
