It's unlikely your teacher would ask you to do something that's not possible at your current level of training. Here's the deal: information is critical. It is critical for debugging, and it is critical for getting sensible answers in a effective way.
First, did you review nnxion's comments? Secondly, you must sort the athletes identification and performance together. No fair just giving Abe the fastest time (Zack's), just because his name begins with a 'smaller' letter of the alphabet. When you review Nnxion's comments and make some changes, post again. Describe the system and compiler you are using. Describe how the program is not meeting your expectations (don't make me get out the crystal ball again). Provide us with the error messages YOU are getting from the compiler (be fair, see?), and the location in the code that is triggering them.
