I started with qbasic in that days of DOS and later on moved to VB5, then VB6 and ended up with C++ and I still got some problems with doing thing I was able to do in VB6 very easyly but not as easy in C++, so I would recommend for you to don't get too attached to VB6. (learn the basics and move quickly on to C++).

well, i learned a little java/c/c++ (insert basic progarmming/problem solving/debugging skills) and took a class that had a lot of vb and i found it a breeze. i just used my D&D text as a reference, and had no problems.
