I've been working on this guide for some time now, and do periodic updates to it. Rather than post the whole thing here and have to update 2 different sites, I'll just link to the original. You can find it here.

No offence, but you haven't really explained things very well in the first part. This is like a "crash course in 15 minutes" thing. You might wanna rework that.

I read briefly over it and some of it is better than what is in my c++ for dummies book. :huh:

yeah, I can't really stand the Dummies books...just aren't very helpful...maybe it's because we're not dummies?

I object - C for Dummies was excellent - Dan Gookin's a great author. But C++ for Dummies was truly crap.

i agree. The Dummies line of book = shit though. Oreilly books are the best IMHO.

Just to throw my opinion in here... I personally can't stand the 'For Dummies' series of books. O'Reily, SAMs, or Que is the way to go.

I totally agree, with the exception of the aforementioned (hey, big word!) books - C for Dummies Volume 1 and Volume 2.

Best C++ Book is Stroustrupp, Complete C++ programming language covers everything in excellent details not so good to people new to programming
