Quadrand Wars: A netrek style MPOG.

From 1997 till 2002, my small team comprised of one programmer and two artists worked on a project we called Quadrant Wars.

http://www.quadrantwars.com

This game is based on the mirror universe of Star Trek.

Three main empires battle for control of the galaxy and it's resources.
The Terran Empire:, 12 classes of ships that appear as agressive starfleet ships.
The Alliance: An ecclectic group of 12 ships comprised of Romulan, Klingon and Andorian.
&
The Borg. Which use a selection of 12 ship types ranging from three assimilated scout vessels from different species, to the infamous Borg Cube.

Once you choose your race, you have the lowest rank and can choose between three ships in the scout class.
As you gain rank, your selection of ships increases by three extra class cruisers.

The object of the game is to fly from system to system and gain resources through Ferengi Merchants and by winning space battles with alien ships.
Death is merely a set back, as all players have unlimitted lives.
Players who die respawn at the last major outpost where they docked.

This is a very simple game, with emphacis on beautiful graphics.
It is also a free project, which has the payoff of credit when it becomes popular.

If you are a fan of trek or interested in any way write to me on MSN
brough77@hotmail.com

Thanks!

I would just like to say you have done a very nice job from the looks of your screenshots. One thing you might want to take into consideration is to stay as far away from Star Trek models as you can. I'm don't know exactly how serious the 'owners' of Star Trek are, but they could shut your project down or even sue you for using any of their trademarked characters or objects, such as that ship you have in those screenshots.

Nice work.

Hey Jayme!
Yes, we have taken that into consideration.
Due to the fact that it's a totally free project dedicated to Star Trek fans, we are within respective distance from law suits and such.
Our actual models for the revised Quadrant Wars will be based on Star Trek but slightly unique so that they are original.

I'll be contacting friends of mine who work with three dimensional computer models, to make modified ship designs and textures.
Everything will be "familiar".

Looks pretty good so far. What tools are you using to create the game?

Almar, the programmer was using Visual Basic.

I'm thinking a new system needs to be created using a different coding.
