help regarding progress bar

i want to link progress bar with datagrid, so that the progress bar should show the time or percentage it take to fetch and fill the data in the datagrid..

also how to link progress bar with each query for adding,updating etc database...

the backend i am using is SQL server7 and front end VB.NET
