Hi Everyone, i am a final year computer science student.I was thinking of building a secure online voting system for my university's student union elections process. A log in page, a voting page, and a servlet to store answers and voterID's... umm.. a backend to tally the votes..

Do you need more than that?

If you're a final year comp sci student, shouldn't you have an idea of how to do this yourself? No offense, although you could at least be more specific about the kind of help you're looking for.

Well, you could go further and use encryption and public key signing to ensure security and accountability. Each voter would be issued a public key, which they could use to sign their vote - though ensuring a secure online election process is a can of worms. Perhaps publish a SHA1 hash of a public key in the student newspaper, which people could then use to verify that no man-in-the-middle attacks were taking places and...

But perhaps I'm overthinking it - You seem to want something simple?

Use a forum poll! or phpPoll (I think I made that up, but the PHP names are never too creative, so it could be real)

Well, yes... Encryption's a priority too, unless you're taking that bit for granted.
