Help

Hi

I am new to programming and was wondering what the best thing to use was.

My dad works for a council department that lend out leisure accessories and he is wanting a program or system of some sort to record where the equipment he hires out is at a certain time.

he asked me to try and do it. I am only 14 and dont have a clue what to do.

I would appreciate any help and hope someone does agree to help me.

thanks everyone

ah a beginner.

i say you can start with Javascript or PHP in web based, that'll help you out a bit with the basic programming (functions, arrays, variables etc)
Then you can check out Python which is pretty easy, and for a database language to store the information you should go for MySql.

yeah i suggest using SQL for a database, that's the best way. in fact, what you're suggesting is the ultimate intro to SQL program. it's the "hello world" of SQL.

As it's a small project, Access will work fine. If you ever decide to do something bigger (which you will if you continue in programming), use a real database such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
