Hi, Im new to the programming community and know very little to nothing about it. I have spent most of my time building computers for my job other than programming them. Right now I am currently learning how to use C++ from a teacher of mine. I would greatly appreciate any, and all information you could give me. Any tips, or suggestions to help me along in quest for knowledge. I love computers for the simple fact its the only thing that I have ever had to work to understand. Its the only thing that has never come easy to me, but Im always up for a challenge.

Re: New to the world.
Welcome aboard!
I know how you feel, I started a pc company on the side line, not really making any money, but I get to work with computers every now then. I suggest asking your teacher about a good programming book, thereafter getting yourself a free compiler and working through the book doing all the examples(read that in a post earlier on). That should broaden your knowledge about programming quite immensly, and the fact that you are lucky enough to have a teacher along the line deffinitely place the cards in your favour. For free compilers and tutorials, simply search "free c++ compiler" or "programming tutorials" in the search window for results. Alternatively google them and you will see them everywhere.

Welcome to the community! C++ is a good choice... look into Dev-C++ for a great IDE (Integrated Development Environment) to use.

Re: New to the world.
Welcome. I have one tip for you, coming from personal experience. Don't take what your teacher says as the holy gospel. Half of what I've seen high school and college teachers teach their students has involved substandard and broken code. The other half has been horribly written. So learn to think for yourself, do your own research, and come to your own conclusions about how something should be written. Your teacher will set a good starting point, so it's nothing to concern yourself with until you learn the basics. But don't limit yourself to just there. And if your teacher is one of the few teachers who actually has a CS degree, then consider yourself lucky.
