Software Tracker

Have been on working this project for several days, which detects your software and the version number and then checks online for the newest version.

Probably going to be finished this friday/weekend.

What I need is for people to post all the software they use so I can configure the program for that software (.ini file).

When I am finished, I'll post the program here and the supported list.

I was fixing to say.... seemed like reinventing the wheel on the Linux side.

I don't use Windows too often, but here is a list of a few programs on this particular Windows machine that seem to need frequent updates:

Windows Updates
MS Offize
Firefox
Java
Symantec

Ok well Firefox and Java (possibly) will be included.. Symantec I don't know which one you are talking about.. and Windows/Office automatically update through Windows Updates anyway.

Btw, this is my 2nd real project on perl.. so could some of you look over the code to see where I could make it simpler and shorten the code.

Dont bother when them as both come with tools that check for updates.
