Visual studio 2005 on Vista

Hi everyone,

I recently installed Visual studio .net 2005 on Vista to write some programs in C. Problem is, I cannot compile any programs that I try to write (C or C++ programs). I have tried installing VS 2005 SP1 for Vista, and running VS in administrator mode, but I still cannot compile.

Any ideas why?

Thanks

I think you're going to have to explain why "I cannot compile." You've been around a long time. You know that we can only read your mind about 5% of the time. Maybe you should re-read the "How to Post" thread, with emphasis on providing useful information.

Sorry for the lack of information!

Basically, I'm running Windows Vista and installed Visual Studio 2005. I then proceeded to install The Visual Studio 2005 SP1, which enables support for VS under Vista.

Next, I ran VS in administrator mode, as per Microsoft's guide to running VS 2005 on Vista.

When I write my program in VS (A simple hello world in C), I save it as test.c. Now the problem arises. The compile button in VS is greyed out, and no where do I see the option to compile my program. Thinking that VS wouldn't compile this C program, I proceeded to write a quick C++ program, and still the compile option is greyed out. I cannot debug nor compile any programs in it.

I'm confused because I don't see any errors, I only see what should be the build button, and that is greyed out. In Windows 2000 it worked fine.
