Summer Projects
Do you guys have any plans to work on a project over the summer? I really want to work on something, although I am out of ideas. I have thought of a couple things but I really want something that I could actually finish over the summer and something with in my skill level.
I thought about doing research and studying OS or compiler development so that I could really learn that low level stuff. Although at the same time I would really like to work on something that would be useful to other people. I would get a learning expierence out of the low level stuff but making something new and useful would be really exciting. Open source stuff seems interesting too, but that seems out of my skill level and my code most likely wouldn't be accepted. I would like to try and create something new and not write the 10,000th email client or some other really common application. So... Are you guys working on any summer projects? Or do you have any ideas for me? |

Why don't you try to create your own programming language! That will keep you busying for a couple of summers

Just look at Google Code Summer. Maybe you can find something nice there.
I'm going to Egypt in the summer, just getting a nice tan.

I'm going to develop IRC client this summer. It's my semester project. Right now I'm learning network programming. I've my semester exams next month. I'm feeling the time crunch.

I'll be working mainly on a real estate management system this summer. (C# and PHP). I will also be doing a lot of coding with neural networks (C++) and mobile agents (Java).
