I read the wikipedia entry on firmware: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firmware
It said that firmware is programmed in C and Forth. I was wondering if it was able to be programmed in C++. I was also looking for information on programming firmware, but a google search just brought up firmware for different products; Ipods, etc. Does anybody know of any tutorials or general information about firmware? Thanks for the help.

Firmware is not related to any programming language. Firmware is software stored in non-volatile memory. The Wickipedia statement that firmware is software embedded in a hardware device is full of horse hockey. All active software lives in a hardware device, whether it's on a hard drive or in volatile or non-volatile memory chips. I guess you could say that source code on a piece of paper is technically software that isn't embedded in hardware, but oh well.

Thanks for clearing that up. So anybody know any links that could explain it further? I'm off to do some research of my own (even know my browser seems to be having some errors), but any links and further information is greatly appreciated.

That's all, folks, regarding firmware. When you hear the term "programming firmware", it generally is speaking of the mechanism for placing the data in the device. Different devices (flash, UV erasable, etc.) have different means.
