Channel your little bits of free time into useful little projects! You'll be surprised with what you can churn out. Also, get yourself a source bin you can dump everything into, and maybe help some else by doing so

. You could even make the source bin yourself - just a mod_python or CGI script that reads the files you've dropped in a directory, extracts the main docstring from each of them, and then generates a webpage that shows all the scripts with a short description, creation date, and download link.

Not that i wanna show off my knowledge of literary masterpieces, put did u use the number 42 for a specific reason, say, the story of Hitchhiker's GUide to the Galaxy? The Answer of Life, Universe and Everything(=42)? cos that's the first thing that came to my mind when i read the title of the thread ....

Every day I put in about 4-6 hours into Python.

- 2-3 instructing and teaching and helping others learn how to program in Python. And building pointless programs at the same time.
- 2-3 working on my BIG project, the RPG.

Here is an un-edited Chapter 1. Note these are just general outlines, once I read it, I'll wrap it up with much more detailed dialog etc,,,

Your commander instructs that you and the rest of the army will go into the
northlands to reinforce an army against the threat of goblins who constantly
raid the hinterlands village. You decide that you are going to show the
Commander how much greater a warrior you are, and set off to become the
Village's hero before day break. You find the village in tatters and bodies
lay all around, broken in ways you could never image. You find an artifact
and rush back to your village to find all your comrades dead. Your commander
is gasping for air saying someone came to claim their artifact back, the one
you have... now you must flee before this powerful source finds you, until you
can find help.

You find one comrade remaining because he hid selfishly from the foe.
He joins your party as you set off to the next village.

You notice the artifact is a bracer and figure that it will be safest on you.
It seems to fit perfectB
As you go down the way from the village you run into a golbin scouting party.
You remember the threat of golbins in the area and realize you must kill them.
You know that there are two many for the two of you and then you recognize your
father's (who is also in the militia) helmet on a goblin and suddenly a rage
consumes you. Your comrade notices the artifact glow red and you begin to feel
filled with a power. You are immolated by flame but aren't hurt by it and rush
into the goblin camp without even a sword, killing most of the goblins just by
running by them. You devestated the camp and kill all the goblins with your
comrade Georgio picking off the ones that run with his bow (Georgio is a default
suggestion, he is an archer, you a customizable/normal fighter) as you calm down
you feel drained and pass out.

The next day you are informed about the last night, Georgio set a false trail for you
and then set into the close by forest, the fire masking your scent and he tells you
the goblins fear this wood because it is supposedly the home of an Old Hermit
who is said to do terrible things to goblins that go near by. But that's just
supertition right?

You begin to head into the forest which is also going towards one of the more major
cities in the region Nurogoth, center of trade and military might in your northern
city-state of Tubado. You continue through the forest (Add interest as needed)
until you begin to think you are lost (Like the special forest in almost every
Zelda game where it's a maze that you need to find your way through) once the player
goes through the forest 4 times (special number, 4 artifacts to find) once
they have gone through 4 times the player appears in front of an overgrown
forest palace (Or as animation allows, old wizards hut) which is inhabited by the
"Old Hermit" in this case, Grand Sage of the Ages. You and your friend Georgio
go to the door hoping for help out of the forest. As you step up the steps you
warp to a room seemingly nowhere (you know, dark room or room with light all around)
the sage speaks in your head.

"I am the sage of Ages. I have no name other than that. I have been here since
there was a here and before. I know all and have seen more than any other
some call me God, but they are wrong, for I am but a guide to ones like you."

"I would ask you how one so... young, as you has been able to find your way to
this hallowed and ancient place, but considering the aura around you it is obvious.
You have the Iruio... Bracer of Mano in the tongue of the Ancients. This is
an artifact that has been fought over by many over the ages. I wonder why
someone so ordinary has been chosen this time. But no matter, I must do as has
been done so many times before and send you out. The world needs a change and
the Gods have chosen you to be the Harbringer of that change. Let me explain to
you what is happening."

"You have used the Bracers power before, whether by conscious thought or by
happenstance is no matter. Therefore you they have chosen you to be their wearer.
Although you may not understand, and may not like it, you have been chosen, and therefore
must go on this journey that you will be instructed upon by me as has been
prophezied many times over the past 10 thousand years by the most secret of cults.

"Now that you, the Chosen One, have taken up the Bracer of Mano in battle, nothing
can stop the chain of events set in motion by that act. If you do not choose
to continue here and now, all will be lost in a year. If you choose to listen to
what I have to say now, you will become the saviour of all. Now, the Bracer of Mano
is a powerful and mystical artifact that is the first step towards solving
whatever problem it is the Gods need solved, for the Bracer of Mano and it's 3
other counterparts are what the Gods use when they need someone to fix a problem
in their works, this world. It is prophezied as such... "When the Chosen One,
armed with the 4 "artifacts", stands on top of the world, he shall speak with
the Gods themselves, and they shall tell him "Ye who have been chosen, our will
be done through thou who art been made mighty by our 4 great boons" and the
Chosen One shall know what to do, and will seek out the imperfection and fix it
in the name of those who are only known as the 4 Great Gods"

Now do you see? You have been chosen by the Gods like many other before you to
fix something that has gone greatly wrong in our present day world. You have no
real choice. Unless you act now, the world will be destroyed and may never again be
salvagable, because there is another Great God, though great for much different reasons.
Once long ago he ruled over the other Gods, but now he is a thing of darkness,
of corruption that wants all to be like to him and will stop it nothing to attain
his goal. Whatever is wrong is his doing and you are his bane. The power of the 4
Gods molded into the 4 artifacts and the first creation of their now corrupt leader
together make you the ultimate weapon against him. Now, young one, speak and let
be known your decision. You what must be done"

You look around bewildered, understanding what is told to you because it was if you knew
it as it was said to you, you know you must say yes, but you also know that even if you saved
the world, there is nothing left for you in it. All you know is gone and all
you cared about destroyed.

"Mighty One... I have nothing left to live for, why would I do this, even to save all,
when I am already lost?"

"Young one, aside from being the Saviour of our world, you also have the resposibility of
family. You are still a brother."

"Flashback!!!!!"

Sister is seen on a horse racing towards the city you were racing towards trying to find help.

"Ella!?!" You say.

"So you see, unless you do this thing, your sister will be slain. While you are still
in the gods power, they will watch her, for they know how to treat humans and how
to motive, for they were the ones that made you that way. Now Young One. Go! Search
out the one known as Yami of the Rains in Jamioua."

The room fades as you appear near a cliff that looks overgrown by a jungle. You
notice Georgio lying facedown on the floor. You look out over the jungle and see
a large city lying in a clearing in the middle of a valley, along with more outlaying settlments
in the valley walls which looks like smaller towns. THe city is huge and you
realize the vallye must be enormous, you wonder where you are and realize
this must be the fabled land of Jamioua, Far to the South of your nothern
home, the city-state of Tabudo, of the City-States of Larru. You also notice another
person, a somewhat tall garb covered figure who walks up to you and stands by you,
you try to talk to it but it does nothing. You begin to wake up Georgio and tell him
all that happens. He tells you he had a similiar experience.. only he was told he was to
be your aid, or bodyguard. He like you, felt as if it was all already there as
the Anicent Sage of Ages told him. You ask him about the guy and Georgio trys
him too without any response. You finally begin to walk when a giant tiger
jumps out of brush. Before you or Georgio can react, the garbed figure jumps on it and
kills it. (Do it however you wnat) You assume he must be a bodyguard too and continue to the nearest
cliffside town to your right.
