Why C# ?

What are the advantages of C# and how is it better/worst/"better suited for certain applications" than C/C++?

I really think that Visual C# and Visual Basic are the easiest languages to use if u're creating a GUI windows applications. However, the advantage of C# over VB is the syntax which is similar to that of C, C++, Java and many other mainstream languages.
For console, multiplatform, and embedded systems programming, C/C++ is the most compact and powerfull hands down (Java comes close on the powerfull side)

The advantage of C# is the .NET Framework and its close syntax with C++ and Java. You can also write cross-platform code thanks to Mono. The problem case itself will dictate which language is the best to use... I don't really think one is better than the other, although I do scream "Use C#" around the forums.
