Microsoft Access alternative
Hi:
I need a small and simple db to organize my CDs and DVDs. I thought in Access because I can make a good front-end without programming but I can't use Access because of money and I don`t like Openoffice Base: it hasn't as many features as Access. Can you tell me about any other alternative program to make a good front-end (with forms, etc) without programming? I can install a database like MySQL, I only need the front-end for the UI. Thanks. |

Re: Microsoft Access alternative
mmm... It doesn't do.
I need forms. I need a form to insert a new DVD, with comboboxes showing data in joined tables, etc. And my friends want me to copy the program for their use. |

Re: Microsoft Access alternative
Have you ever played with phpMyAdmin?
it's just that it offers a GUI interface to editing the data, admittadly it's basic but if you just needed a single table it would work. Im assuming you know this and need a more complicated multi table style solution, is that correct?

Yes, it's right.
I know phpMyAdmin and I use to manage my databases at work but it's not good for a final user. And I don't want to manage manually the foreign keys between tables. |

Open Office Base?
I've not played with it, but I believe it's the "free" alternative from Open Office to Access.

Re: Microsoft Access alternative
You surely get what you pay for... As for mySQL, how do you expect to interact with the database without any programming?
