I have been assigned for a new job. I was asked to create a program that could be able of subtitleing videos. Does anyone have any idea where to start?
I mean...does anyone have any reference link about linking subtitles to video?
I'd appreciate a lot

probably the best starting point is to look at the existing subtitle formats out there such as sub viewer and sub rip, and see how they work. google should have everything you need.

i already know how subtitles format (such as srt, sub, ssa,...) work. i can't find any starting point, for example, if i want to load the external file and paste it into a video, i probably will have to decode the video, paste the subtitles into the right frame and then encode back the video...
