Word Document Password Recovery
So I've made a stupid mistake and have thrown away a piece of paper with a password on it to a Microsoft Office Word Document File. I know this will be on the edge but I was wondering if anyone would be able to get the text from the file and send it to me. I have searched online and have found some programs that will get the text but they cost money which I don't have at the moment. If anyone could help me out it would be great. When you open it, it asks you for a password and if you can't provide the correct password it rejects you. I don't need to know the password, just the text inside the file.

I have something you could try. I'm guessing that there is a chance that Word doesn't actually encrypt the data, but rather just sets a 'protected' flag, and denies you access. If this is the case (and I have no idea if it is), you could try opening it with another program (such as openOffice) that might not honor this flag, but nonetheless understands (more or less) the Word .DOC format.

You've probably already seen this, and it's a password recoverer (not a text recoverer) and it's shareware, but you never know... :p
You could also try converting the file: http://media-convert.com/ That site has worked for me in the past. Hope some of that helps you.

@lectricpharaoh: There is RSA encryption I believe. I Opened it with notepad and all it gave me was the encryption. I opened another file I created that isn't password protected and I was able to see the text.
@Prm753: Thanks for the suggestion I already tried the password recovery program, problem is that it's limited and unless I want to pay $30 I can't get the password. I tried converting and I got nothing. |

I've never done anything with password-protected Word documents, but try OpenOffice.org.
